It’s no secret I’m a big Taylor Swift fan. I’ve never really watched football before, but like the rest of the pop culture world I am invested in seeing this pop star on every platform.
I own more Chiefs apparel than I ever thought I’d own. I even punched my own ticket to go see a game in Kansas City later this fall with some friends. My second ever NFL game. My first game was to a Carolina Panthers game in college with my family again the Philadelphia Eagles. We were in the nose bleeds and my biggest concern was the charge on my phone and learning the E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES chant. Obviously, not invested in the game.
Taylor Swift's involvement has definitely drawn in a new crowd to the NFL and Chiefs Nation. I’m not mad about it. Hallmark is even jumping on the bandwagon with a Chiefs inspired Christmas movie coming out on November 30th. Many of her fans, who might not have been interested in football before, are now tuning in just to catch a glimpse of her at the games. It's kind of like a crossover event where her music fans are getting a taste of the NFL. This has led to increased viewership of the games, and a lot of social media buzz. People are sharing clips and photos of her at the games, and it's creating a whole new level of excitement and engagement. It's really interesting to see how one celebrity can bring two different worlds together.
As for the Swiftie world. I’ll continue to attend the Siouxland-swift related events. I’ve been to a Taylor Swift bingo, and an Eras themed pottery night. There is also a Taylor Swift themed Musketeers hockey game coming up in October where everyone in attendance is in the running for tickets to one of her last stops of the Eras tour. I can’t wait to see what else Siouxland can come up with to stay with the buzz of the biggest pop star in the world and the NFL!
