An Election Day Prayer
Ahead of this Election Day I wanted to share a prayer.
Dear God,
As we start off this Election Day on Tuesday morning, we ask for Your guidance and wisdom. Help us to discern the best choices for our community and nation that we may see fit. I pray the leaders we elect today be filled with integrity, compassion, and a genuine desire to serve. Grant us peace and unity during this time as we await results, and help us to remember the importance of every voice and vote.
There have been some dark days leading up to this election with lots of hate. In these times of division, we pray for the spirit of bipartisanship to flourish among us. Help us to see beyond the party lines, beyond the red and blue and help us work together for the common good of our country.
I’m reminded of a passage which emphasizes the importance of using our voices to uplift, defend, and share our faith. Proverbs 31:8-9: "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."
Thank you for the poll workers, volunteers, and anyone else who helps the voters receive any assistance they may need at the polls to provide a positive and smooth voting experience for all who want to use their voice.
I pray our actions and decisions on Tuesday and also moving forward be driven by love, respect, and a shared commitment to everyone’s wellbeing. I ask you unite us and help us to build a future filled with hope, and understanding.
Amen.
See you at the polls.
